A Bit About Us

Collaboration Musical Theatre was formed to be an amateur theatre group in Derby with a difference. We would perform the smaller cast productions that many other companies couldn't do, but as a team, supporting one another through the entire process. Auditions are done openly and cast members vote for who they think will do the best job playing each part. The company was also set up to give people a chance to play a role who might often get overlooked in other companies, not because they aren't talented, but because the competition is fierce and despite always doing a great audition they never seem to get chosen for a part. Collaboration is exactly that, everyone working together to create the project. We have a production team, but they encourage ideas from cast members regarding choreography and direction which allows fresh ideas to be heard and performers to feel natural on stage. It's also about friendship and teamwork and creating a company where professional standards are held, but rehearsals can also be a lot of fun.
